Hello, everyone!

We have already mentioned McLaren MP4-12C as one of the supercars we are adding to the upcoming update. It is time now to tell you more about this masterpiece of the automobile industry.

Premiered in in 2009 in Frankfurt, McLaren MP4-12C was set to rewrite the rules of sports car design through Formula 1-inspired engineering, revolutionary chassis architecture, and absolute focus on efficiency.

The heart of 12C is the Carbon MonoCell, innovative one-piece moulded carbon-fiber chassis bonded to aluminum engine support. The 12C MonoCell not only brings dynamic benefits, but also offers fundamental engineering opportunities that form the basis of the car's unique character, such as a much narrower structure overall, which contributes to a more compact car that is easier to position on the road and more rewarding to drive.

The 12C is powered by a bespoke McLaren 'M838T' 3.8 litre, V8 twin-turbo engine producing around 600bhp, supported by McLaren's experience of active aerodynamics to aid cooling, grip, handling and road holding.

Weight is the enemy of performance in every area of car design, and McLaren Automotive engineers pursued weight saving obsessively. Its dry weight is about 1300kg, which is at least 75kg lighter than its nearest competitor. Weight-saving solutions include the world’s first use of a 12v lithium-ion battery, a magnesium beam dashboard support, rear-mounted radiators, hexagonal aluminum wiring, forged aluminum and cast iron brakes lighter than carbon-ceramic options.

In World of Speed McLaren MP4-12C is just a little bit slower than another I-tier supercar, Pagani Huayra, with 333km/h of initial max speed that can be significantly increased by tuning. However, 12C is much better at accelerating from 0 to 100 and from 0 to 200, and offers a fair advantage when racing at tracks with multiple turns and short straight sections.

The MP4-12C was the first McLaren designed and built production car since the legendary F1 and McLaren engineers were determined to deliver the best car in its sector by almost any measure. And the list of celebrities-owners of this car (including Prince of Bahrain, Beckham, Will.i.am, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth) proves that they have succeeded. MP4-12C innovative design and F1 inspired technologies made it one of the most versatile and potent supercars on the road.
